Vesuvius: landscape and origins

Vesuvius National Park charges no entrance fee. You only need a ticket for trail no. 5 to the crater rim: €11.68 online, with a time slot, and there is no ticket office on the mountain.

The park authority states it on its Gran Cono page: tickets are sold exclusively online, and the only authorised seller is vesuviopark.vivaticket.it. It explicitly warns against other sellers.

The ticket is valid for a time slot. The turnstile at Piazzale Quota 1000 opens from two hours before to two hours after the booked time, as long as the day's last entry has not passed. The guides at the crater are included in the price.

The park's other ten trails are free. Some are only partly open after the major fire in summer 2025 and after storms; the park authority reports the status in its Alert section.
