The Netherlands has 22 national parks; the state grants the title at the request of the province to nature areas of at least 1,000 ha. The oldest is the Veluwezoom from 1930, the youngest the Hollandse Duinen, designated in April 2026. This atlas covers De Hoge Veluwe National Park in full – privately owned, with an entrance fee, free White Bicycles and the Kröller-Müller Museum.

The Netherlands has 22 national parks, including the Kalmthoutse Heide cross-border park shared with Belgium. The Veluwezoom has been a national park since 1930 and officially since 2005. The largest park is the Van Gogh National Park with 49,271 hectares, the smallest De Peel with 1,340 hectares.

Entrance fee only at the Hoge Veluwe

De Hoge Veluwe belongs to a foundation and charges €13.85 from age 13; a car costs €9.80 extra. At the entrances you can only pay by card. Hoge Veluwe tickets

Free White Bicycles

2,000 bikes wait at the entrances and inside the park; take one, ride off and leave it anywhere in the park. Cycling through the park

A museum with its own ticket

The Kröller-Müller Museum lies inside the park but is a separate organisation; the combined ticket for museum and park costs €27.75. Kröller-Müller Museum
