Poland has 23 national parks, together about one per cent of the country. The oldest, Białowieża and Pieniny, were founded in 1932, the youngest, Warta Mouth, in 2001. This atlas covers Tatra National Park in full – the most visited park in the country, with Morskie Oko and the Kasprowy Wierch cable car.

All 23 parks are listed in the directory with their founding year and official page, including Karkonosze National Park in the Giant Mountains.

Poland has 23 national parks, together about one per cent of the country, supervised by the Ministry of Climate and Environment. The official page is the ministry portal Polskie Parki Narodowe, for Tatra and Karkonosze the park's own website. The largest park is Biebrza with more than 59,000 hectares, the smallest Ojców.

Karkonosze National Park covers the Polish side of the Giant Mountains with Śnieżka (Sněžka), the highest peak on the Czech–Polish border. Entry costs PLN 11 per day, bought online or at the park's ticket points.

Tatra charges entry, online or at the gate

Tatra National Park charges PLN 11 a day, PLN 5.50 reduced; children under seven go free. You buy online, at the ticket points or by QR code at the entrances. Tatra tickets & fees

Morskie Oko: parking only with an online ticket

Only drivers who booked online may enter the car parks at Palenica Białczańska. A car costs PLN 36 to 75 a day online. Plan Morskie Oko

No trails at night, no dogs

From 1 March to 30 November the Tatra trails are closed between dusk and dawn. Dogs and drones are not allowed in the park. See the rules
