Stelvio: landscape and origins

Stelvio National Park charges no entrance fee. The pass road is also free so far – a usage fee is planned but not yet in place.

The South Tyrol park administration says it on its home page: entry is free and the national park is open around the clock. You only pay at visitor centres and museums.

For the pass road, Stilfser Joch GmbH – a company of the Province of South Tyrol and the Lombardy regional agency ERSAF – is planning an access and booking system with a usage fee. It has not yet published prices or a start date.

The road closes because of snow, not money: the pass is usually shut from early November to late May. The current status is published by the province's traffic centre and by ANAS.
