France has eleven national parks, together almost 8 per cent of its territory: from Vanoise, the oldest, founded in 1963, through the Pyrenees and the Cévennes to three parks overseas and the youngest, the Forests National Park of 2019. None charges an entrance fee. This atlas covers Calanques National Park in full, with the Calanque de Sugiton reservation and the hike to the Calanque d’En-Vau.

France has eleven national parks, covering almost 8 per cent of its territory; they belong to the French Biodiversity Agency (OFB). Each has a strictly regulated core zone and usually a partner zone around it.

On Porquerolles, part of Port-Cros National Park, a cap of 6,000 ferry passengers a day has applied in summer since 2021.

Free entry, a reservation for one calanque and closures on days of high wildfire risk.
According to the French Biodiversity Agency, the national parks are open to all and free. You pay for car parks, buses and boats. Details for the Calanques.
In the Calanques you need a free reservation for Sugiton and the Pierres Tombées on peak summer days, bookable from three days ahead. Details on the Sugiton page.
From 1 June to 30 September the prefecture of Bouches-du-Rhône closes massifs with high wildfire risk for the following day. In the Calanques that happened on 11 days in 2026.
