Devil's Throat: the Garganta del Diablo at Iguazu Falls

Train to the end of the line, then a 1,100-metre walkway across the river – when it is open.

The Devil's Throat (Garganta del Diablo) is the group of falls where the Iguazú plunges with the greatest force. On the Argentine side a walkway without steps runs 1,100 metres across islands and river channels to a balcony at its edge. The operator closed this walkway as a precaution on 3 August 2026 because floods were expected for September and October.

While the walkway is closed, you can see the Devil's Throat from the Brazilian side: a trail there ends on a viewing walkway in the river in front of the Garganta do Diabo, with a lift back up. Helicopter flights from Foz do Iguaçu show it from the air.

No reopening date has been set. According to the operator all other trails in the park – the Upper and Lower Circuits, the Macuco Trail and the Sendero Verde – are open.
