Vintgar Gorge: a one-way trail with an entry time
If you arrive without a ticket, you wait, and there are none at the entrance itself.
Vintgar Gorge (Soteska Vintgar) is 1.6 km (1 mi) long and lies on the eastern edge of Triglav National Park, 4 km (2.5 mi) from Bled. Boardwalks, bridges and galleries lead above the Radovna to the Šum waterfall; you return along a themed trail. No more than 245 people may be in the gorge at the same time.
The combined ticket costs €15 for adults and is valid for a fixed entry slot. It includes entry (€10), the return along the themed trail and green access with parking and shuttle bus. It is sold only online or at the official car park P1 Vintgar Lip; the visitor centre at the gorge does not sell tickets.
The trail through the gorge runs in one direction only. After about 45 minutes you reach the Šum waterfall, then return along the Path of King Triglav: 5.7 km (3.5 mi) and 80 steps in total, so allow at least three hours. Helmets are compulsory in the gorge; you get one at the visitor centre.
